Where can you go on a Sunday afternoon, get fit, travel a continent, raise funds and contribute to the advancement of women, while elevate their families out of poverty?
The YouMeWe Foundation (formily Ignite Excellence Foundation) ‘spin for scholarships’ fundraiser with special photo journey from Cape Town to Cairo – raised enough money to put one woman through tertiary education in Africa!
YouMeWe Foundation’s sole purpose is to lead in the development of women leaders in Africa in order to best serve the injustices done to women and children.
Michael Gingerich and Suzanne F. Stevens spent two years in Africa interviewing women pioneers for WisdomExchangeTV.com. They continue their work, and have recently been acknowledge for its impact with The International Women Alliance (TIAW) World of Difference Award for education held in Washington March 2014.
Based on extensive research, both thiers and the UNs, when you invest in a woman, her contribution has a greater impact on her family, as well as the community, country and/or continent. It seems only logical that the best investment for advancing the circumstances faced by many women and families in Africa is to invest in women’s leadership.
While many charities have focused on the girl-child, we’ve found the most direct route to developing women leaders is by investing in tertiary education. The YouMeWe Foundation along with key members of the community select a woman in need who has the desire and capacity to create a positive ripple effect that will impact hundreds or possibly thousands.
